Bringing OpenTelemetry to Data Management with Tintri

100%
Open Standard

The Challenge

Enterprise organizations running Tintri VMstore alongside Kubernetes and virtualized workloads faced a persistent observability gap. Storage telemetry remained isolated in separate tooling while application metrics flowed through modern OpenTelemetry pipelines — creating siloed visibility, vendor lock-in, and no correlation between storage and application data.

Our Approach

Integration Plumbers designed and built a Tintri OpenTelemetry Collector integration that collects metrics from Tintri REST APIs — both VMstore appliances and Tintri Global Center — and maps them into OTEL-compatible structures with semantic conventions. The integration uses standard Collector pipelines with no proprietary dependencies, enabling multi-backend routing to any OTLP-compatible platform.

Results

  • Unified storage and application telemetry in a single OTEL pipeline
  • Multi-backend routing to Grafana, Datadog, Dynatrace, or any OTLP platform
  • Open-source contribution with no proprietary dependencies
  • One year of free support for up to three early-adopter customers
